Every designer wants to be creative, but you will be surprised to note that not every designer is creative; maybe that’s why you have some websites that seem to be really very creative while there are others whose designs can be called, bland, at best. Let’s face it, not everybody has a really creative bent of mind, but that doesn’t mean somebody who isn’t very creative cannot become a good web designer. If that was the case, the number of web designers plying their trade would have halved. But, that’s not the case, and there are plenty of designers who wouldn’t call themselves very creative, but who still manage to come up with unique visual experiences for their clients, every single time. No, it’s not because they are lucky, but they have trained themselves to become creative.

Do you want to be creative as well? Of course you do; follow the simple tips given below to become a more creative and definitely a more accomplished web designer:

1.       Make it a Habit to Get Inspiration from the Best Websites

Every day, make it a point to go through some of better designed websites out there that have been attracting attention for their unique designs and the quality of their design. By going through them, you will get the reference point for your creative ideas. It’s important to remember that ideas don’t spin out of thin air. An idea is result of something that you have seen, read or experienced and this is why you need to make it a point to get inspired from websites that are gaining notice for their visual and functional appeal. By drawing inspiration from them, your creative spirit will get a definitive boost.

2.       Keep Practicing

This tip will definitely surprise you but it really shouldn’t! If you keep coming up with some new designs every day, you will definitely be able to hone your creative skills. Just work out a mock project brief and center your design on that brief. By making sure you do this regularly, you will be able to unblock your creative pores and think imaginatively. What’s more, when you are practicing, you are under no client or peer pressure to come up with really creative designs. This ensures you aren’t scared to try different things and give the right expression to your creative instincts.

3.       Keep improving your proficiency

Even if you are the most accomplished creative web designer on planet Earth, you still have to improve your knowledge and skill sets. As a designer, you cannot sit tight surrounded by an aura of self-confidence that prevents you from learning. There is something new happening in the world of web design every day and this is why the learning never ends. You need to keep building your skill sets, which in turn gives you the confidence to try out something new. If you keep track of the latest developments in your niche and learn about the latest designing platforms and their workings, you will find yourself coming out with newer and better ideas.

You also need to keep track of what other designers are doing, meaning follow their writing, blogs or converse with them through social media or discussion forums. The more the learning that you gain, the more creative you will become.

4.       Keep Getting Feedback

Whenever you come up with a website design, try and get feedback from people whose views you value. It could be anybody, right from your wife to your father and from your high school teacher to a designer who you admire. Try and get feedback from different people so that you get different perspectives about the same design. Feedback allows you to improve yourself as a designer and fine tune your creativity. Mind you, some feedback can be really scathing, but make no mistake, it is only such feedback that will help you improve your designing skillsets. Even if you have put in a lot of effort into a particular design and you get an all-round negative feedback for it, don’t get disheartened. The fact that you have got negative feedback means you have gone wrong someplace. So your first job is not sit in a corner and mope around, but to improve your design further.

5.       Don’t Put Too Much Pressure on Yourself

You will never be able to deliver creative output if you are forever thinking about coming up with creative ideas. The thing is to not push yourself too much; otherwise you will end up in a corner. Free yourself from all the pressure associated with thinking creatively and give a free run to your imagination.  If you are making the effort, there is no reason why you won’t be able to come up with something creative all the time.  But make sure you don’t keep comparing your creative output with that of your contemporaries. Creativity is a subjective matter, so it makes no sense to draw comparisons with others. Your creativity is your own and the ideas you come up with need to be judged on the basis of the project brief your get and whether the idea will be able to meet the objectives underlined in the brief, that’s it.

Taking note of these tips will definitely help trigger your creativity. The idea is to keep trying to come up with something creative all the time. Keep noting down any new idea that you come up with and work on it in your free time. Stocking up on these ideas will ensure you aren’t too pressurized when asked to come up with something unique and inventive while working on a web designing idea.
